Traveling Along

KOA @ Terre Haut, Indiana
After 3 days in Terre Haute, Indiana (beautiful country) we started thought Missouri and half way through found and inexpensive hotel to stay at and get some rest.  After driving to St Louis and driving  the area and getting lost AGAIN (we got lost the last time in St Louis, 2 years ago).  For some reason the Arch seems to get to us every time...getting lost can be good as we saw much of the downtown area we might not have seen otherwise.  It's also frustrating but we have plenty of time on our hands and it gave us something to do.  We even drove through the "Historic City of Ferguson"....I can only think of one thing that
maked Ferguson 'historic' - and that is the riots there just after we left St. Louis a couple years ago.  We then settled into a hotel and spent a couple of nights there, spending the next day touring the area.  Beautiful countryside where we were staying.

Charlotte and Larry
On Thursday we started out for Kansas to visit our friends.  We spent 3 days with them - shopping IKEA, eating, going to Union Station, which is an old train station converted to a tourist attraction.  There was a GREAT model train display....as well as a Lego train display....and many shops in which to spend our money www.UnionStation.org.  The other day we went to the Arabia Steamboat Museum (a steamboat that sunk in 1856 and was found 132 years later in 1988 with most of it's cargo still on the ship and in prime condition)  http://www.1856.com   Sunday we went to church and then a potluck after church.  Our time there was filled with great fellowship with old friends (50 years next year), good food, and just plain fun.

We left in rain Sunday afternoon and after a short talk decided to backtrack 30-40 miles into Missouri to a KOA we had seen while driving to Kansas.   We have a cabin here and will be here at least 1 more night, maybe 2.  Waiting for friends from our Las Vegas days to come home from a short trip...hoping to get some visiting in with them

We doubt very much we will be gone the total 3 months we had planned.  Our next stop will be Estes Park, CO and then onto visit friends in Monument (outside Colorado Springs), then maybe a stopover in New Mexico and maybe Flagstaff, AZ before coming back into the valley of the HOT sun and monsoons.  Thinking we'll be home sometime the last 2 weeks of August.
