July 5 - On Our Way

Entering Utah

We left Phoenix this morning with the intention of driving all the way to Hurricane, Utah (just outside  Zion National Park)...as usual 'the best laid plans......' don't aways work out.  Exhausted after an early rise we managed to drive up through beautiful Flagstaff, and headed toward Zion National Park...we didn't quite make it to Zion (about 30 miles short) and are staying in Kanab, Utah.  We passed beautiful sites like Lake Powell and the north side of the Grand Canyon.

Tomorrow we will take off and drive to and through Zion and then hit the I-15 and head north to Boise, Idaho.  It's a 9 1/2 hour drive so we'll probably be breaking that trip in half and spend a night somewhere along the I-15 (anyone have any good ideas?).  Not interested in Salt Lake City as we've been there/done that.

Tonight we are resting up and then hoping to find a local restaurant where we can eat some supper. We saw a couple cute little places coming into town and may try one of those.
